Iconic drag queen Tyra Banks has told WWD that she’ll be au natural on this season of America’s Next Top Model, going weave-less the WHOLE season. Wow. In our Age of Total Weave, where almost errrbody has some kind of weave up in they heads, this is risky!!!
It sounds like a huge deal – I mean, what is Tyra without her many complicated weaves?!?! – but it’s not really, because Tyra’s natural hair is long and beautiful as it is. That’s why her lace-fronts look so good!!! You know, it’s sort of funny how she’s making a huge deal about going weave-less – is this supposed to give some, like, empowering message to women? Is it saying: “Hey ladies, don’t be slaves to your weaves!”
I think it’s more that she’s trying to look slightly less drag-queeny this season. But whatever. Weave is fabulous. Men and women should both walk around in weaves, carrying a personal fan pointed at their face for that really dramatic effect.

This piece originally aired on the Yale Daily News
Last night, the ever-fierce queen of burlesque Miss Dita Von Teese was a celebrity guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Yay – she even wore diamonds in her hair for the occasion. You gotta love any panel of judges that has RuPaul’s weave and Dita Von Teese’s Eternal Glamour on it!
In the episode, the hot messes competing for America’s Next Top Drag Queen had to do a burlesque show – with the requisite stripper pole, obvi. But let’s just say that some of the queens had a rather, um, skanky interpretation of burlesque. Nicole Paige Brooks, who wore a fringe skirt and was the leader of the skanks, knew how to work that stripper pole too well! Our Lady Dita was not amused, and rolled her eyes in disapproval. The punishment for NBP’s ho-bagness was a prompt sashay away – thank god.
People: sex sells. Booty skank does not!

Despite the news that Lady GaGa collapsed yesterday due to exhaustion at Purdue University, the ever-fabulous diva appeared on Oprah today for an interview and performance. The best part of the video, though, is midway through when the camera catches Oprah jamming with her monster claws out! Work, O! In the rest of the interview, GaGa dishes all on her outfits, her pop cultural performance, and tears up the house with a medley of her hottest songs. I’m telling you, GaGa is really working it out. I love how she connects high fashion, art, pop culture, and I really love how she does consider herself a performance artist. Take that, art world!
It’s high time I write an academic journal article on her, before somebody else less fabulous beats me to it.

UPDATE: THE VIDEOS BELOW HAVE BEEN DE-ACTIVATED. BOO! OH AND HEY ALL YOU PEOPLE READING THIS POST, DON’T FORGET TO CHECK OUT MY OTHER STUFF WHILE YOU’RE HERE, TOO!
I’m really starting to like this Lady Gaga! Natch, when she first exploded onto the scene I ignored her, but I secretly loved what she was doing with fashion; I loved that she called herself a performance artist; and I loved her Andy Warhol style interviews. This girl knows how to work the media, and that’s her most Warholian trait. But I haven’t seen her give any wild, deadpan interviews lately – maybe she’s past that by now? With this performance on Jay last night and her new emphasis on monsters, I think that we have a Lady Gaga who is really doing her own thing.

In case you didn’t already know, Project Runway on Lametime really sucked, and now the ratings are in to prove it! On Thursday night, 4.2 million viewers tuned in for the finale (I was not one of them). That’s only a touch smaller than the 4.8 million who watched the season five finale on Bravo. But a dip in ratings is a dip in ratings.
This is why you don’t fuck up the formula: Project Runway is about New York. It’s about drama. It’s about Nina.
I’m telling you, season seven better be off the chain. Meanwhile, watch Project Catwalk and Project Runway Australia to get your fill of bitchy fashionness.

Omg, do you watch White Collar? It’s a new white-collar crime thriller-dramedy on the USA Network. The show’s about Neil Caffrey (played by Matt Bomer) who was once a white-collar criminal and who now secretly works for the FBI. He helps them solve high-end crime and stuff.
Blah Blah Blah. All that really matters is that the lead character is amahzing. Like…scorching hot. Plus, he’s a big-ole gay!
When I saw advertisements for White Collar in the subway I nearly passed out. And when the show’s actually on, I couldn’t care less about who got murdered/what got stolen, etc. I’m looking at Matt Bomer. Because, um, that’s what the show is really about. I’m sure the execs over at USA were all, “Put this dude in a show and everybody will watch it.” Yup. It’s funny how desperate TV studios can get for viewers. Look at how they even made the show’s logo match Bomer’s crisp blue eyes. Aww.
